Welsh. I've had 3 and every one of them hatched a clutch starting in their first year...great sitters, great mommas.

well they are descended from Khaki Campbells.

Muscovies and mallards make the best mothers. Muscovies can hatch clutches of 15-20 eggs multiple times a year and are very protective guardians.

I just started keeping ducks earlier this year with 4 pekin ducks and 1 drake and in spring 3/4 went broody and are awesome mummas.

They may not be known for their mothering skills, but I also have a Runner that goes broody and is a very attentive and protective mother. Unfortunately she throws mostly males so I'm not encouraging her efforts.
