Looking for advice. I have a broody duck who had 3 eggs that we developing. 1 hatched earlier today and seemed fine I went to check on it a few hours later and it had died. The only thing I saw was a patch of bare red skin(I think- I have a picture if someone wants to see it) no other signs of trama. The 2nd egg has started to pip and nothing on the third. There is mama duck daddy duck and a baby duck about 2 months old from her last hatch.

At what point do I throw the other eggs out if they haven't hatched?

Did one of my other ducks possibly Peck the little one to death? Debating on pulling the next 2 if/when they hatch. Or should I just let nature take it's course and what happens happens?

What did you decide to do?..I definitely keep my Momma separated during hatching because the others will kill them.
Unless Broody the others don't understand the Peeping. Although some first time Mommas will kill them as they hatch too..

The 2nd once hatched last night and I decided to pull it and put in a brooder the momma duck gave up on the remaining eggs after the 1st baby died the 2nd once was cold and barely breathing when I pulled it last night. But the heat lamp and some sugar water seemed to help baby 2 is doing good so far. And the 3rd egg was extremely cold this morning so I think that one is a lost cause it got down to 60 last night and momma didn't sit on it I don't think. Here is picture of baby #2

Poor baby...Yes. Some first time Mommas really are clueless. Is the other one alive still?..Do you have a heat lamp on them?

No other ones are alive this is the only one that made it. Yes there is a heat lamp in the brooder :) the ducky is on the other side by the food and water right now. The tempature under the heat lamp is 90°

You can raise that so it's not so warm. I give babies a mirror and teddy. Definitely see if you can buy it a buddy. Wet soupy feed seams to be what my babies like plus dry out. Water deep enough to dunk it head.

I was just telling my husband I was going to make a trip to the feed store and get it a friend. He know how my chicken/duck math goes so I'm sure I will come with a "few" friends ;)

AWW poor duck! I hope that buddy can help him out a bit! If he is to hot then he will be away form the heat and if cold will be direct under the heat so make sure you are watching him to know how he does.(don't know if it is a him...just guessing).
