I have three female ducks and a male and one of the females is broody, I think. We have a dog igloo in with our ducks for them to lay in and she is always in there and attacks me whenever I get close to her. Do you think she is broody? Also she has not been laying and she is not sitting on anything, I did put a fake egg under her and a few golf balls to see if she will keep sitting on them. I have been collecting duck eggs for a while and I want to sneak some under her but I am wondering how I should do this, in the past I just put them in and then the hens just stop sitting altogether. Also how many should I put and should I do it all at once or a few each day?

My broody girl would take eggs that I offered to her. You could try to just set the eggs near her instead of disturbing her from the nest to put them directly under her. Or if she’s off the nest periodically you might be able to add them, then. If they’re truly broody often then they’ll roll the eggs under them with their bill. :) are these Muscovy or mallard derived ducks?
