Broody duck...should I give her a duckling?

Then give it a go. I’d try giving it to her in the evening after dark just like we do for chickens although I have also given my broody hens chicks during the day they don’t care the more the merrier. But put your hand completely over the duckling so she doesn’t see it place under her after removing all the eggs. You can have a flash light on just don’t have it facing mama. Stand by for a while to make sure she settles down just in case she attacks.
Ok. Thanks! I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

Any breed will work if your going to TSC they have had nice assortments of breeds in this year. Since KC are on the smaller side I’d try to go for any breed other than Pekin just in case you were to get a drake. They can get big.

Would there happen to be any auto sexing duck breeds, to insure I get a female?

Some members have been getting these ducklings at TSC and other feed stores the Golden 300. It has KC in it. Here is a pic in case you find any

Update*
Bought two ducklings from TSC, they didn’t allow just one. Put them under mommy a few minutes ago, she seemed very pleased and pulled them under her and they nesstled up. Got them food and water and they’ve eaten and drank. Moved around a bit and sat back down with mom. She’s being very good, cooing to them when they peep and being very sweet. Yay!
