She is sitting in thier house that is completely protected and locked at nightSnakes yes. Where is she sitting? Last year my little OEGB was sitting on 11 eggs inside the coop in a nest box about 4’ off the floor, I went out one day and all were gone . So I gathered her daughters eggs and gave to her 4 few days later they dissappeared so I moved her nest box an all to a small coop where she was locked in so nothing could get to those eggs. Next day go into the coop to clean and there on the roost right in front of where the nest box was lays a huge black snake wondering where his free lunch was. Snakes are sneaky. OEGB eggs are tiny snack size too.
I am so bummed tonight I noticed we are down to 1 egg. darn it all. Oh well.My one year old pekin duck is sitting a clutch started out with 16 now only 7 is she breaking them? If so why?
thats true it has been warm here, I found several broken shells in the house with her just pieces not whole shells. The last couple of weeks had been warm. Until yesterday. Y’all have not been reaching 80 like us ? You are only about 90 miles as the crow flies northeast of me
I wish I did, but NOWho else is in with her? I have a chicken who is an egg eater but usually some is left. She could be breaking them and eating them. Do you have any type of camera you can set up inside and keep watch?
No it seems to be during the day.I am sorry to hear this. Not heard of many ducks being egg eaters. Are you sure they are disappearing at night?
That confirms it’s not a snakethats true it has been warm here, I found several broken shells in the house with her just pieces not whole shells.
