Broody duck?

When a duck goes broody is it like when a chicken goes broody? Will they just start sitting on anything?

Our experience with our ducks is that they are very similar, although they are more social in their nesting behavior. Unlike our hens who like to sit 3 high on eggs, our ducks will be side by side by side (maybe 3 or 4 on a nest)... One of our mothers last year actually scooped up an egg in her mouth and carried it to a nest when she got tired of rolling it!.... Now, I will suggest that you keep an eye on the "mothering" abilities of your ducks, Many of our baby ducks just wandered off after they were born as the mothers seemed a bit unaware of what to do, so we had to rescue and brood them.... One walked about 100 feet toward the end of our driveway before we rescued her!
