I never had a hen hatch, but now I live in the contry and maybe my babies will grow up and make me a grandma. Congrats!
all I can tell you is that one of my "mutt" banty hens successfully hatched nine little fluffy-butts and they are now two weeks old; she has successfully defended them all from our two "tame" cats, one "wild" cat, and at least three neighbors' visiting cats, not to mention a couple of dogs ... and the other four hens, the two cockerels, and the roo
broody hen is sitting on NINETEEN eggs (took me awhile to find the nest, then couldn't distinguish which were fresh-laid, which were old ... ) .. will be interesting to see how many hatch out ... and day 21 is the day before we leave for the mainland ... curiosity is nearly killing me
