As Lisa G mentioned, it's usually pretty clear when there's an issue. She's either calm with the babies or she will be aggressive toward them. A gentle peck to get them to go back under her isn't unusual but outright aggressive pecks aren't a good sign. It does happen, some broody hens just aren't good moms but I haven't had it happen yet so fingers crossed for you!
