Broody hen, actually pullet???

Don’t put bedding in the dog cage. If you slide the tray out it already has a wire floor. That is a wider wire so you might want to turn it upside down cuz the top is a smaller wire holes making it easier to walk. Pop a brick under each corner.
Yeah, and bungie cord the tray on top so they don't get out.
It's happened.

Really good to rig your crates with smaller wire on bottom...will work for multiple situations and very handy to have them ready to go without dinking around:

She did well pretty well today. We kept her in the crate for awhile and then she was able to free range most of the rest of the day. Even came in the run and didn’t head for the nest box at all. Then 4 o’clock came and she must have gotten a hormone surge:he. Back to the crate she went. Let her out at dusk and guess who is back in the nest box?

I will make sure I move her well after dark from now on @aart. Wish I read your post before I let her out lol!

Chickens! I never knew there would be so much to learn.

I will make sure to rig the broody jail up with wire when I can get it. Not easy to run to the hardware store right now😞. My area in Louisiana is hit hard right now with the virus.

Maybe if I can have one ready, it will keep the broodiness away.

Not a happy camper today! Very broody!!! Desperate for the nest box today.

very hot today. Worried about her stressing herself out.

Yeah, they don't like it ,especially at first.
Might throw a frozen bottle of water in with her...and give her a dose of electrolytes.
