Broody hen, actually pullet???

I personally leave them crated until broken, or they can find ways of slipping into the nest box.
I put her on the roost before I read this. She is just frantic in the crate. The porch would not be secure for her overnight and no time to try to get a crate into the coop tonight with all the others tucked in already. Hopefully she stays blind in the dark.

Yeah I would prioritize safety over breaking her. If the crate fits into an area that's safe, that'd be for the best, but if it really can't fit, then yes it's better to just stick her on the roost.
 
Good news today. She stayed on the roost all night. Came out with the flock today and hasn’t tried a nest box run once. Temperatures should be lower here also next week which hopefully will help.
