One of my broody hens now has a baby:

she was sitting on over 30 eggs but only 5 hatched and 2 died than the the fox and her. it was there first time sitting.

HORRAY!!! My little baby peeps finally hatched!

There are few things quite as enchanting as seeing a newborn baby peep cheeping softly as it gazes up at you with its tiny chickie eyes... *sigh*... Well, I finally hatched my little fluffybutts and you've never seen a happier person! Here they are!

I put in a picture of Molly, my black cochin awhile back. She hatched 8 out of 10 fertile eggs set. She has 'weaned' them, and now she is sitting on a borrowed batch of banty eggs. And I have two partridge rocks sitting also. I wish I could get a picture of all three of them!

I wanted to add my 2 new broodies before the contest ends.

Both these girls have been sitting for 3 days now and went broody on the same day. They were in 2 different pens but decided to be brooding buddies..LOL

First up is Momma hen She is 2 years old and my first silkie ever!
She is the best momma and is VERY broody. She is sitting on 5 RIR eggs and 3 of her own eggs.

Next up is My girl peppa! Peppa 1st time she went broody was when she was 8 months old. She hatched a clutch of eggs right through that horrible Kentucky ice storm. She is broody again at age 11 months old. She is on 8 silkie eggs some of hers and some of my other silkies. She never got to get the chance to be a momma because sadly I had to take the babys away due to it was too cold for the babies to live outside. So this time she gets to be a mommy!!!!!!!

Broody butt..LOL
