Broody hen hatching eggs

My hen is hatching chicks, we are on day 19 (Monday) and hatch day is this Wednesday. Today I was checking on everything and noticed an eggs was cracked, thinking she accidentally stepped in it. Do I need to do anything about this? Will the chick be ok?

Hi,

It appears to have pierced the membrane on the left side. If that's true, the only thing I would do is stick it in an incubator on 70% humidity and hope for the best. Bacteria has probably already gotten in there so don't think that one stands much of a chance, but I'd still try.

If I'm wrong and it's not pierced, I'd still put it in the incubator, and if you don't have one, then I guess under the hen again. You could try putting a piece of packing tape over it, but if that's where it's going to try to pip, then it'll be stuck in there.
