Hi! So we have 12 chickens in our back yard (don’t tell my neighborhood association!). One of our buff Orpingtons is broody. Poor girl was sitting on dud eggs so I got 4 eggs from a friend. Well one of those broke and I wanted her to have at least one baby. So I got those on a Tuesday. Then on Sunday I got 12 more fertilized eggs from another friend. So that’s 5 days apart. I checked the first three today and all have signs of life. I will check the rest on Sunday. Should I be planning on getting an incubator for the 12 since the others will hatch first? And if I do that can I give the babies to my mama hen to care for? Or will she reject them? They will only be 5ish days apart.
thanks! (Pic of my baby and hen but not mama hen)

:welcome A more workable plan might be to remove the first chicks and then give them back to her after the rest hatch. Good luck, and hopefully she will not break broodiness.
