Broody Hen Thread!

We have our first broody hen of the season!

We just found her yesterday, so we put a few fake eggs under her and left her be, to make sure she was actually broody. And sure enough, she is! We set her up this afternoon in our brooding section of the coop, and the due date is the 13th of next month! I Can hardly wait!

Hi everyone! 2 broody hens here for the start of Spring!! One is a Buff Silkie bantam hen sitting on 3 Buff Orpington eggs and the other is a Swedish Flower hen sitting on 3 Buff Orpington eggs, 1 Easter Egger egg, and 1 of her own eggs!

about to give up on letting the banty set the eggs. Every time I would put eggs under her they would come up missing. Put up a trail camera to try to figure out if I had a snake. And come to find out I have a egg eating royal Palm Turkey hen. Gosh I wish it would have been a snake it would have been a lot easier to solve the problem. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do.
Get rid of the Turkey hen...if she is eating chicken eggs...she will eat her own and others eggs. She's figured it out, obviously chasing the Banty off her nest and downing the eggs. If you really want the Banty to hatch out some chicks, I would isolate her from any interference from the Turkey or other flock members.

I told my husband we was going to have put her on pen by herself, and get rid of the palm. He doesn't want to get rid of the palm...

Hmm I guess if your hubby just wants to keep the palm as a pet then you will need to build a pen for just the palm though I don't know how turkeys do as singles as I don't keep turkeys.
