fisherlady I am jealous! I just wish one of our dogs was that trustworthy with our birds.
Jessimom, you have the patience of a saint! Your two broodies sounds like the chicken equivalent of 'Who's on Third'. Have you tried 'breaking' your remaining hen by putting her in a cage with no bedding and air under her bottom to get her 'out' of the mood?
Thanks...and glad your grafting went well, I do like you did, I add during the day....@fisherlady the dog and chicks! It's just too much!
Picked up 4 babies for my broody. Took a chance and put them out today rather than waiting til tonight. She tried to peck at them so I just shoved them under her. She seemed satisfied with them after that. One even was climbing on top of her.
Our first time broody just hatched her first chick! She is so sweet, lets me touch her and the chick. I think she assumes we are co-parenting. We actually have two first time Broody hens that set the same day, so lots of chicks on the way. This is so much easier that incubating.

Where are you? What a day for new chicks! We are getting some severe weather tonight. No wonder new momma was sitting tight and not letting those babies wander. Just hoping we don't all blow away! Maybe the storm will do its thing then settle the wind down a bit. It's been nuts here the last few days.
