Broody Hen Thread!

Ok, I think Adore the showgirl has stopped messing around and has really decided to go broody. She sure was acting like it tonight. She was only sitting on two eggs, so I gave her a few more. She made some really weird dinosaur noises at me and puffed up.

Now give Miss Adore some real eggs before she changes her mind again. This is a modern era u know. Like apidural and painless deliveries, now mother hens also want hatched babies delivered to them via incubators lol. So give her eggs come on.

Opsss I guess I have touched a sensitive issue for all female members specially mothers. They will be like " what the hell do u mean by painless. Go through it once and you will come to know".

Lol. I did give her eggs. She had two, I think, under her. I added 6 from my cream legbars. And you are right, even with epidurals it's not painless. ;-)

I have a question. One of the turkey's pipped internally yesterday morning. It has still not externally pipped and it's been just about 24 hours since I saw the pip. Should I make a breathing hole or do turkey's take a long time? It's still alive and cheeping some.

Then good luck to you and Miss Adore.

And regards the later part, I know what my wife had to go through twice. Its very difficult thing. My heart goes out to all mothers.

I would have given you advice but I am not turkey expert. However, I do help chicken babies to come out of they don't hatch for more than twenty four hours. During my latest hatch I helped 6 chicks which other wise would have died. They are alive and kicking. But you have to be very careful not to damage the ambical cord. You can peel off the egg shell and the membrane from the head side and where the legs are located.

I also lost six chicks which needed intervention but I was not around to help them.

Thanks. I've helped before, I just wasn't sure on the timeline for turkeys. This is my first time with them. But I didn't mean to ask that question on this thread. Lol. I meant to post it on the hatchalong.
