I am excited to join this thread! My little Silky went broody thanks to some golf balls. It took only ab out a week before it was clear she was getting committed to the task. I have a Brahma who also tends to go broody, and she toyed with the idea of the golf balls but quit after a couple of days.
I ordered 6 Silky eggs for my Silky after it was clear she was committed to the task and the lovely seller sent 9, so they are all at present under her with a supposed hatch date of April 13th or 14th. Totally my first time, as well as my broody's, and the hatching eggs traveled a long way, so I have no clue what will happen. I can't wait to candle on Day 4! She is a super broody mama hen, and goes broody so often and stays broody so long, so I think she will do a stellar job. She is all fluffed up over her eggs now, and clucks at me and even gently pecked me when I messed with her eggs/golf balls. She seems to get off the nest only once a day for only about 15 minutes, unless she gets off another time that I don't observe. I keep joking to my husband that I am fulfilling her life's dream by letting her hatch some eggs, and Chicken Dreams Matter.
