Broody Hen Thread!

How old we're they again?
ummm they are either day 8 or day 9th (we opened one at day 4 -5 and thats what it looked like on the embryo chart)-- and! Now Broody number one is back on the eggs again (I put them all back together, there are 11 left, aside from the one I found crushed under her on the floor of the coop)...It was probably about 20- 40mins? but in 103 degree heat ...

Do you have a spare incubator?

The others won't fit up under the other hen? I would try putting her back in the carrier over night and see what she does.

What happened was the other hen went out to eat and drink and then disappeared into the bushes(my family was being really loud outside and I saw the hen come back then hesitate and go back into the bushes. SO then even the nest box had no hen in it. Then I just checked and hour later and the hen I put into the dog crate last night is BACK on the nest box in the coop on the eggs--
SO it seems I have 2 broodies switching out on the same nest of eggs. But there was a 20-40 min gap of time between hens on the nest (I recombined all the eggs)-- its IS super hot (we are in the mts, I cannot believe we hit 103 degrees today).... so I am hoping the eggs are OK.. I guess I will just candle them on day 10? and see if any are viable...

They should be fine.
