My broody just hatched a baby today. However it hardly cheeps and lays down. I put her by food but she just lays there. She does walk a few times but not much at all. She won't drink or eat

ok she scoots around but mostly sleeps. Is it possible for one day old chicks to not know how to walk? She's just very unbalanced and sleepy. Do one day old chicks need waterShe sounds sick do u have a heat lamp if u do take it inside u might need to get a little tube and put it down its throat so u can get some water in it I say take it away from mummy
Of course it's possible there is something wrong. I was worried about one of mine with a similar thing. She was the last to hatch and seemed to just sit and shuffle around for the first day but it wasn't long before she was up and about with the others. My broody just hatched a baby today. Hope it's ok xx
Chicks can go 72 hours with nothing to eat or drink. When did this one hatch today? They are usually exhausted from the hatching process and tend not to eat the first day and sleep alot. Now some chicks are slower to start than others and seem very lethargic the first day but usually perk up in a day or two. I am not sure if this little one will make it but when I have a slow starter, I leave it with momma overnight and the next day will see how it is doing. I will then just dip their beak in some vitamin water to try to get it to drink. I don't think I would try to stick a tube down to give water in a chick this small. It would be too easy to perforate something on the way down.My broody just hatched a baby today. However it hardly cheeps and lays down. I put her by food but she just lays there.
