Broody Hen Thread!

Had to give up on my Wyandotte who was the excessive broody one and put all 11 eggs under my poor sussex as Wyandotte decided it was too boring for her and started attacking the sussex to peck the eggs! Needless to say we started off with 12 eggs and she ate 1 so it was an emergency run to find an incubator last night to relieve the remaining eggs to survive! My Wyandotte is a bit daft anyway she honks like a goose and crows like a roo....

She's out there now honking at a pigeon?!

I moved them on day 6 - yesterday. Got the sussex to look after them whilst I drove to the closest farm to grab an incubator. I'm doing a staggered hatch so for the others it was day 1 yesterday so I'm hoping I will get at least a 50% hatch at least. It's worse than bringing up my 3 children lol!

1 week old today & tomorrow. They look so funny running around out there!! I've only ever brooded in a tote in my spare bedroom, so I'm really enjoying this! Lol

I have a Partridge Rock who would not stop setting so i put five of my pekin ducks eggs under her! I candled them on day 7 and they were all living and developing!Im excited! Only 18-17 days left!

I don't think there is anything I enjoy more in the yard than watching a broody teaching her little ones how to be good chickens!
