Broody Hen Thread!

They are both beautiful birds! I have an egger with the same coloring/pattern, so perhaps there is a bit of egger in there too.
Mine lays light creme colored eggs so can't be EE. I am thinking brown Leghorn in her lineage especially since she is very small compared to Wyandottes and because of egg color. Her Pattern is close to Welsummers though. I wish I could breed her to see what kind of chicks she will have, but I don't have a Roo.

Terra cotta colored eggs? Do any have spots? Pretty girl's! They look like wellies What I think is the Wheaten roo The 2 chipmunk girls and what I (and the breeder) think is the light colored chipmunk girl Lady of McCamley
@Angelicisi No terra cotta eggs...she lays light tint similar to a Wyandotte.

Definitely not a Welsummer. Welsummers do not have rose combs and are shaped a bit differently, but I understand the similarity in colors.

Good luck with dark eggs (or spotted) with your Welsummer. I enjoy mine...photo below of the nice terra cotta eggs I get from her.

Lady of McCamley

My Welsummer eggs on the far right, Wyandottes are middle left, lighter tints

And just for fun, the darker Marans eggs

Really beautiful eggs!

I finally have two eggs hatched! I'm so happy and feeling a lot less discouraged after they didn't start hatching on scheduale! I still have my 5 marked eggs unhitched and those were the firsts... The momma hasn't kicked those eggs out and they don't smell bad either.... But they are very late on hatching so I don't know what to do about those

Any suggestions?

I have a broody banty now. Shes a silver duckwing bantam and is on her second nest of this year. The first had 0% hatch rate so I gave her new eggs and she started over! This batch is due Monday and if none of them hatch this time, I will give her the chicks I'm incubating which are due on the same day as her 3. I'm incubating 4 standard size chicks and 8 turkeys. Can she raise them? She also only lives with her daughter who she hatched last year. Her daughter is kind of sitting with her so they will probably raise them together. How many can I give them?
