Broody Hen Thread!

Well I had one hatch Friday, 2 Saturday and now 2 on Monday. They all look very healthy and I put in a very small container of water with large rocks inside and food because she is still sitting on the nest. This is my first broody so I definitely should have put all the eggs under her the same day...but I think everything will be ok. She is a good mom.

What are these beauties!??
Two babies so far......barn yard mixes from my SIL. Looks like one is crested :)

We have 3 broody/mama hens on the farm now. The first one is a Black Cochin Bantam who hatched 6 chicks who are now 6 weeks old! The second one is a Buff Silkie Bantam who hatched 1 chick who is 1 week old! And the third one is a Barred Rock Bantam who is sitting on 2 eggs!

My momma is a Columbian Rock...
the roosters are Columbian Rock and Barred Rock...with the CR being the dominant (and less clumsy) rooster. But I took eggs from all the hens on a couple of days.

So I have 2 CRs, 1 looks like a CR crossed with a RIR, and 2 CR crossed with BSL (looks like I have one male BSL and one female BSL, or else I have a pure BR (which would be awesome, but not sure yet).

My chicks were hand raised from day olds and are extremely friendly..I am hoping that domesticated silver fox experiment holds true for chickens here :)

five broody hens here, two wyandottes, one silkie and two buckeyes, another Wyandotte hatched hers last weekend. My flock has "chicken math" without my help. I need to eat more chicken
