Broody Hen Thread!

Right now I have 2 broodies well 3 but one of them hatched her chicks a coulple of days ago. Under my Buff Orpingtion hen I have 2 dozen Splash, Cuckkoo, Golden Cuckkoo, and Blue Marans!, and under my other hen I have 1 dozen of BCM, Amerucan, Silver Laced Wyandotte and Olive Eggers. I can't wit for them all to hatch!!

. Why don't you get some fertile eggs and let her hatch them?

2 dozen under one hen?? Does she hatch them all successfully?

I gave 12 incubator chicks to a broody bantam today . Kept them in her nest overnight so they would bond .

Update on my Faverolles hen and the eggs that were sat on, not sat on, sat on, not sat on, and finally sat on for good... CHICKS ARE HATCHING!!! One was out, and one was still in the shell, but had the top completely off. I'm not sure how many eggs she has, but I hope they all hatch! She did kick one out of the nest the other day, so I think that one must have been not developing or something.

I can't wait to see her with a bunch of little fuzzies!

Just purchased my first bantam frizzles last week who just so happen to be broody too, so i gave them some olive egger eggs i was incubating and they should be hatching Thursday and Saturday!

OMG! They are so cute in all their broody glory! Haha!

How long have the hens been broody? Be careful, if the chicks hatch too soon, and the hen isn't prepared, she might attack them. That's what happened with mine. Eggs were under one hen, then another went broody and stole them, and a chick hatched only a few days after she had been sitting. She attacked it, and it almost died!

Scar made it, but it was really touch and go there for a few days. Pretty sure he's gonna be a rooster, but he'll get to live for a while at least!

I'm assuming that should be fine. Mine was just a couple days in. So horrible. :/
