Broody Hen Thread!

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the input everyone.

She was off her eggs early on when she couldn't find the door to the nesting box after we moved her and then the same day a snake got in there and ate three eggs and she was not able to sit for a while.

She seems very dedicated, she hasn't come off for more than 5 minutes to eat and poop every day since then.

Maybe I'll move her to a more secure location and give her some more eggs and if she stays on the nest in the new location, she can hatch them. I just don't want her health to be compromised by sitting for too long. She's young, 8 months old, so maybe it would be okay.

OMG! I just went out to move her and found this!

Here is my first batch ever I was so excited you would have thought I hatched them my self there 6 in total she is a mix bantam buff silkie cross hoping she will do it again

I have a buff orp that has been broody for over a week and I even moved her and she still insists on staying in the nest. All she has right now are golf balls but when I get my ameraucana chicks in she will be a happy momma. My plan is to sneak them under her in the dark.
