Good luck!!Please send good broody vibes my way. After my last broody killed most of her chicks I'm kind of freaked out about letting Diva hatch some eggs.![]()

You can use the 'search this thread' option under the last post on the page to search chicksurreal's name and find her posts here about this incident.
I have a BLRW that went broody for the first time at 7 months and in the process of trying to move her her broodiness was broken. She went broody again at 10 months and hatched some chicks and raised them to 4 weeks then over night decided she was done with them. Now at 12 months she is broody again. I don't really mind and she only had to sit for 2 weeks with her others because I had incubator chicks started when she went broody. Is this kind of unusual? I plan to get her some silkie eggs. You think she'll keep
doing this every couple of months?
I think she'll keep doing it. You have a very reliable hen that some people would die for you lucky duck! I'm still waiting for one. Good Luck!!!
I have had 2 BSL's go broody, and they can be very determined.
Good luck and keep us posted (and tell her to vary her reading with some good literature too, maybe some Mozart playing in the background, to build those little baby chick brains as they grow)
...and welcome to the Broody Thread, and BYC.![]()

Dear Lady of Camley,
She broke an egg (unbeknownst to us) and stunk up the henhouse. She abandoned the eggs and I had to toss them. The hen lost interest.thanks for asking!![]()
