Broody Hen Thread!

It took me forever to find this little thing under her, but here it is: her first chick

I've got 4 broody girls right now. Esther has been setting on eggs for 12 days and I just put eggs under the other three yesterday.Nessie went broody again after her chicks were only 8 weeks old and I couldn't break her of it, so... So much broody fun!

No dead chicks! Just happy clucking mommas in a big hen pile with chicks climbing all over and under them. My non broody has carved out her own nest spot in the coop, which is sliiiiightly worrisome. Really hope the chicks aren't tipping her over into wanting her own, LOL! Roo keeps going up to check on everyone and coming back out to talk to me.

My hen has three more chicks, all of which are actually hers. She has another that has internally pipped that I am watching closely. It's from a hen that I recently bought. I don't know if it's because she's older or just bad luck but none of her eggs that I put in the incubator actually hatched. The closest one just failed to pip. By the time I went to make a safety hole (my family had taken me out to dinner for my bday), it was already dead. I just want one chick from her!

You ended up driving for the day olds??

I have not been able to touch this hen ever since I tried moving her. Well I put on my rubber coated gloves and a hoodie, lifted her leg, and surprise!

Should I move these two to my hen on the ground and give her some of the eggs that will hatch later on?

Yep. Got off work early and had the worst drive EVER to Petaluma. Left at 1:15PM. Took over 2 hrs to get there. HORRENDOUS traffic on 101. Got the chicks and buzzed home in no time at all. Not even sure what I got. I know there are two colors of Wyandotte, but I didn't really pay attention. Just six different good layers.
