haha, thanks!Yup brag on !
. They will do fine as long as they are kept from drafts moma will keep them warm .... I don't have to fight the cold down here like I used to back in Ohio my Broodys do a great job I have a bunch hatching around the 9th give or take the kids were putting every egg they could find under he till I put a stop to it lol ,,, then I had three more go about a week apart and we also have some pure breeds 81 eggs in two bators so it will be a busy month here at buena vista farm lolhaha, thanks!
At the moment it's snowing sheets outside, and my two broodyhens are caring for four babychicks without a heatlamp in the coop (isolated, but not heated). They're doing very well, and I'm so glad I don't have to worry since the momma-hens do it for me!
. Nope they will catch up and all will balance out the free rangers with mom are gettin a lil less protine more than likely as mom makes sure they get the bugs worms and other good stuff the chick starter is better at building mass and size as it is a fully balanced supplementQuestion everyone- I have a BCM mothering five babies who hatched with 25 others in my bator. She seems to be doing well but this is my first time and hers as well. I am a bit concerned as the babies she has are half the size of their siblings in the brooder. Is this normal? I assume chicks with a chicken mama just expend more energy keeping warm and ranging? They have a creep (chick accessible only) feeder of starter and ate very active, just small. Should I be worried?
Im up to 4After having no luck with my bator i was So Happy to find 3 little chicks under my broodys. Ive got more coming out as well
oh they are silkies![]()
Im not really sure but I finally got a duck out of it today. Why no luck with the bator crazy ?

haha! The kids are having so much fun with it, although I must admit on our farm I'm by far the most enthusiastic one. The kids can watch as I'm assisting hatches, and look at the baby chicks for a couple of minutes then they're done - and I'll stay in the coop looking at the broodies with babies for hours!. They will do fine as long as they are kept from drafts moma will keep them warm ....
