My Broody is not doing so well she has week-old chicks, she hatch three ones missing and one has an eye picked out I don't know what else do with her I have her in a large pen all by yourself. Their are two eggs in the bater ready to hatch, I don't think I should Give them to her. Should I take the chicks, really didn't want to have to raise them

Have you seen her being aggresssive, cannibalistic or neglectful? Or is there a predator? Could the other chick have pecked the eye of the one (that is what may have happened). Is the pen secure from small chicks escaping...they love to do that.

I would definitely investigate and assess what has been going on before adding new chicks. But it may not be your broody's fault. She may simply need better support.

I have a pair of silkies that are inseparable. They do everything together. Eat, drink, sleep, even lay eggs together. 4 days ago my splash silkie went broody, leaving her partner in crime all lonesome. Well my white silkie found her partner sitting in the brooder box on eggs. To which a day later I found them both together, wing tip to wing tip, clucking in union as I peered in. So I believe that these too have decided to go broody together as well. Lol I may have to give them more eggs.

I now have two very cute Appenzeller chicks, one silver and one gold. I am only hope they are both female, that would be the icing on the cake! Next project is I have have just put two doz cp quail eggs in the incubator. I had to adapt the rack though, I knew the eggs were small, but omg, they are the size of cadbury mini eggs!!
