Broody Hen Thread!

She looks like she has some gold to her. Is that a GLW?

Whats a GLW? I'm not great with chicken breed acronyms lol. I got her as a hatching egg and I'm pretty sure she's a black Orpington. Photos on google show that some have some gold to them. Although to be fair, I've never had orpingtons before her so who knows? Lol.

Gold Laced Wyandotte. That is not a black orpington.

This is a black orp: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...age=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&tx=110&ty=80

These are all google image searches for black Orpington hen, and all look exactly like my hen. She's only had the gold twinge since the weather got hot and sunny around here, and it also looks more pronounced in the photo, likely due to the lighting. I'm as sure as I can be that she is in fact a black Orpington. Being that I live about twenty minutes from Orpington, this breed is particularly prominent in these parts.

What breeds?

Looks like a little buff orpington and a male black sex link (BO x BR) . These are just hatchery type birds... excellent layers but nothing special. I've got the good eggs in the Brinsea.

Hoping for some blues in that batch!
