Oh My! These broodies are driving me nuts.

I had 7 broodies and now one of the first to be broody is broody again! Also I had a leghorn hatch 2 chicks on Memorial day and now she is collecting and laying on eggs again even with the 2 chicks!!!! I am putting the food and water close so I know the chicks are eating and drinking. I am going to be up to my ears in chicks!!! I had another broody hatch 7 chicks today with one egg still left to go and two other broodies should be due to hatch next week. Thank goodness I have a very big coop!!!!

I would say yes she could very well be broody!!! Especially if she is growling at you and not leaving the nest!!! That is the first sign for me when I see them laying in the nest and I go near them and they start growling at me!!! LOL They are all talk though!

I did take them from her and gave to another broody but she got them back again. I have so many broodies that I am running out of separation space!!! Hopefully the broody that had the 7 hatch a couple days ago will be ready to take hers out of the crate and I can move the other broody into that so she can't steal them anymore!!!

WooHooo! Another broody! Now I get to choose which eggs to hatch. When you are picking ferile eggs to hatch from your flock, what things do you look for? Last time I just really picked 4 eggs at random from that day. This time I plan to include 2 eggs from my ee and maybe 1 or 2 others. But how do you choose?

Most times I don't have a choice because they already collected a bunch already but if and when I can choose, I really just randomly pick some too.

Broody number 10 today!! *sigh* I am going to be in chicks up to my ears!
