We have a broody hen. A couple days after she started being broody, a raccoon got into the coop before sundown and attacked her. Luckily, we have cameras and were able to stop the attack and take care of the raccoon.
We brought her indoors to our bathroom for a couple nights to treat her for the raccoon injury. She recovered fine but since she was attacked we figured that would stop the broodiness. Nope. Even after being attacked she is still broody.
Then we moved her to the isolation coop we have for a couple days as that’s usually what we do with broody hens and it works well. It didn’t work. She was still broody.
Finally, we created the set up attached. In a cage, off the ground, no real floor, with a fan pointed at her to cool her down. We’ve seen this tactic online for ending broodiness. As of this morning she’s still puffed up and making broody noises. I’m not sure what we can do at this point. Any feedback???
