Broody hen?

i have 1 hen who won’t want me to take her eggs. She will squawk and bite my finger so I wait until she leaves. She has not plucked chest feathers out though. According to my research a broody hen is one who does all 3 things. My question is she ready to raise baby chicks? I want to let her do the work, not an incubator. Also according to reasearch, I need to separate her from her family in order for her to raise more than one egg. Where should I place the separate place for her? Can it be in site of the other chickens?

I’m not quite sure what breed she is either. Have any guesses? Her name is Gertrude .

That's an EE and they don't pluck feathers till closer to hatching. I separated mine either in my garage or in a crate in the Coop.

Easter egger..A cross breed to get green eggs

Wait so does that mean they lay green eggs? Because the chickens I have aren’t pure green just a tint. Or is that what it means

Yes..A mint green egg. Some lay pink or light blue and others just brown..

Wow lots of Easter egger today! she may be broody not all my broodies plucked their feathers I would watch her and let her commit for a few days before you move her

If your breaking her put her in a wire bottom crate elevated off the ground to cool her belly.
