Broody hen?

Give her a couple of fake eggs or golf balls and see if she stays with them.

What do you mean by breaking? If that means letting the hen have chicks then that is a good idea. Also the hen doesn’t exactly stay on the egg all day. She gets up after about 30 minutes and then I get the egg. Does that still mean she’s committed?

I do have golf balls and she does sit on those too.

No..She doesn't sound Broody. Just likes taking her time..

I agree with Chickens Really, it does not sound like she's broody. A broody hen only comes off hte nest for short periods to eat and drink, etc. If she's not on the nest all day there is something else going on.

Yes...She will not leave that nest and they will Brood on no eggs too. They flatten down and growl. Will not leave the nest sometimes for 3 days..

Not every hen will go broody. So she may never. It largely depends on the breed and the individual. But when one does go broody you'll be pretty sure of it. They stay on the nest almost 24 hours a day. Only getting up to eat drink and relieve themselves.
