Hey everyone!

So, we're into our second year of owning chickens and we've got a broody hen. She has been sitting on 13 eggs since last Thursday, the 2nd.

Is there anything we need to know?? One egg did break and I had to clean up the nesting box. I've candled a few and can see veins. Is it possible she will just abandon them at some point? I'm nervous she will give up after a while and leave them to die.

Any advice would be great!
Thank you!

I would candle the eggs any chuck the ones that have not growth, this will prevent a rotten egg from exploding under her and making a mess. it is unlikely she would abandon them, but if she does do you have an incubator to put them in to finish the process?

No, we don't. I will look into buying one!

When one of my chickens goes broody I just let them Handle it themselves. Just making sure they eat and drink regularly, but for the most part I leave the eggs be;)
