Broody hen

I have a broody buckeye. Will she stay broody? I want to give her eggs to hatch. But I read that don't count on them to give you chicks. She has been broody for about a week (I'm guessing I just found out today.) She is out now eating will she go back to the nest?

If she has been broody for a week, she should go back to the nest. If she is new at being broody though, there is a chance that she might not stay in the nest for the whole incubation period.

I agree with @HappyClucker7. If she's been broody for a week, she should stay that way. If you're wanting to try hatching now is the time to try because the longer you wait the more weight she can lose which is not good long-term. Alternatively, if you want to put fake eggs under her and wait two weeks, she would likely accept chicks if you slip them under her at night and remove the fake eggs.
