Broody Hen

Cool ......... We will try and find some eggs that will hatch and experience this scenario . Thank you ever so much for responding . I will use the Louisiana Market Bulletin though .

Just go to the feed store and talk to some of the patrons. Somebody will give, or sell you a half dozen eggs for your broody. Just tell them your story.

I just had a broody and no fertile eggs. I knew someone who had chickens and they gave me seven eggs to be placed under her. She hatched all seven. Here`s a great article on broody hens. Have fun.........Pop

I read where you live in the mts. of N.C. , I used to live in Hendersonville , I loved that area . Use to canoe the Nantahala with a bunch of friends frequently . Loved Asheville .
Anyway , all I have is hens and this broody thing is new to me . I can see the value of a broody hen now . Being a novice I would go and buy a few chicks from the feed store.
I plan on raising Blue Red Laced Wyandottes , got a roo , and some hens , but they are still chicks . Crossing my finger cause we live in a small country community and hoping
no one complains about my roo .

too bad your not closer!! I have fertile eggs, they are small pullet eggs but they are fertile. did you look for a thread in your area? theres one in my area here on byc. let us know if you find some eggs!!

our EE is broody just now.. usually she wont let you near her... but while shes broody you can pick her up no flapping or anything.. you can also stick your hand under and grab the eggs out from under her(2 today, neither of them were hers).. she just snorts as shes pecking and gives you a dirty (fowl) look when you take them from her, these hens all seem to sit on eachothers eggs and lay their eggs in the same nest

when shes broody we just pick her up off the nest and hustle her outside.. she gets over it eventually

if u wanan break her out of the trance straight away holder and dunk her head and bum in cold water ( plz make sure its a hot day) and she should snap out of it or just lock her out or abatin fertile eggs some how baby chicks are soo cute
