I have recently had two hens that were brooding get sour crop. With the first one, I didn't know what the problem was until it was too late. With the second one, I was able to catch it early, withhold food for a day, and then feed yoghurt for two days. She is eating now, and seems to be doing fine. Has anyone else dealt with this problem (broody hens getting sour crop), and does anyone know what the root cause of sour crop is or what I could be doing wrong that would be causing it? My hens are on pasture, and I also give them grain, and black soldier fly larvae. They have constant access to fresh water.
