I personally wouldn't try again. She honestly sounds a little off her cracker in the broody department. I had a hen like that once and she was a nutjob mother. She was only good for incubating. She'd do that until the cows came home. I had to remove her from the chicks and brood the chicks for 2 weeks until a second broody hatched her chick then adopted the artificially orphaned chicks.I may be past that point right now. I dunked her in cold water and we've had a nice breeze today. I'm worried about her killing them. If she took them that would be great or if I broke her then hallelujah, but what if she's not fully broody and hurts them![]()
You don't have to put her in the bathroom but bringing her in the house surrounded by the crazy excitement of 6 kids may very well get the job done. Just set her up anywhere that you can easily clean up and has lots of activity. Lay down a big tarp and put her crate in the middle if you have to. Bring her in in the morning, take her out the following morning and see if that doesn't snap her out of it.
