Hey guys. I woke up this morning and my hen kicked 5 eggs out of her nest in the duck coop. They were outside on the ground very cold. I candled them and they all looked like good viable eggs about 10 days into incu. I'm assuming they are dead now, right? Why is she doing this? Is there anything I can do?

Unless another bird is bothering her it is probably accidental. Can you put a higher lip on the nest box to help contain the eggs. They may still be viable. I'd mark them and put them back and then candle in a couple of days to check on development.

I had a broody once that insisted on only laying on one egg in the nest and would kick the other eggs aside. I did take the all of the eggs and put them in my incubator and surprisingly they hatched. She had just started siting.
