Sad news - we waited until this morning Day 26, but no peeping or movement, so we opened the eggs. All 9 were formed, with 3 that only had about 1/2 tsp of yolk left. I think those 3 died when it got to 104. Interestingly, despite my struggle to keep humidity up (was usually 30-50% - bumped to 65% at times for a few hours) the air sacs and membrane seemed perfect for all of the chicks....
I am bummed, and discussed having Santa bring me an incubator this year so we can try to set some eggs in the Spring. Not sure I will ever go the broody route again as mine have been 0 for 2. I just wanted the cuteness of mama and chicks, and wasn't thinking too much about bad outcomes.
Thank you for all the help, suggestions, and support! I think those 3 would have been hatching around day 24 if the temp didn't spike, so waiting and holding tight was the right way to go!
