Broody mallard hen

Keep us posted!
Gave one an air hole last night, and gave a second egg an air hole this afternoon. One of the eggs that didn't hatch under the mallards pipped internally but no external pip so now I'm a little paranoid. I got tired of finding dead fully formed ducklings inside eggs. :(
So fingers crossed these guys do great because I'm in need of duckling cuteness this week.

After about 48 hours for one of them with no external pip progress I gave them some help and avoided the veins. They are happily breathing and chirping and I’m relieved they are still alive. For whatever reason I’ve had a few recently that just never crack the shell after an internal pip and I don’t need anymore dead ducklings this week. So hoping these guys will hatch in the next 12 hours or so whenever they are done absorbing what they need to absorb.

SO CLOSE!!!

Let them be for most of the afternoon then went and checked on them a few min ago. One was half out of its shell but appeared stuck and likely a bit shrink wrapped. So grabbed him real quick and helped a bit and basically hatched in my hand. He's got a little membrane stuck to him but figure that can come off in a few days. Second one looks about the same going to need help so been helping in small doses and will check back again in a bit. For whatever reason this hatch has just been crazy but my winter hatch was so easy. Who knows. Will post photos later when they are dry and fluffy

He was a bit stuck so had to help and hatched pretty much in my hand. He’s in the incubator drying off and waiting for his friend to hatch

Second duckling (yellow and black) needed a lot of help but seems to be doing well now.

First duckling (yellow and maybe some blue or gray coloring) is a crazy little thing running all over the incubator 😂 and posing for the camera lol
