I have a toulouse/chinese mixed goose and gander 1 yr old. Mrs. Goose started laying 2-12 and so far has laid 27 eggs. Took the first 10 away and let her have rest. She went broody 1 1/2 week ago. Was happy she did, but now she has totally lost interest in setting going on a week now. Would rather spend her day out. She does rearrange and cover her eggs, and sets at night, but that's it. Should I give up and break up nest. Oldest egg is dated 3-2. Don't want a stinky smelly rotten egg mess in there. On the other hand, don't want her to continue laying since she is so "saggy" right now, she looks ridiculous, poor thing.

I have the same concern.....

When we had Pilgrim geese, one of ours would do the same. She would sit on the nest at night. Our gander would sit on it during the day. I'm not sure if that was normal, but they hatched out 2 sets of goslings this way.

I have two females sharing the nest but neither of them will sit on the eggs for any period of time. They do cover them up though

This has been going on for almost 3 weeks. They originally had 14 eggs in the nest but I took 13 of them out. They since replenished the nest but are not sitting.

I have only stolen one batch of eggs. After that I figured if they want to have babies, have at it. Now, though, I'm not sure what is going on. There are three "houses" that they can use for nesting. Both are using the same house though
