Broody on eggs-update, need more advise- see last post

Oh, forgot to add that the chick in ICU I ended up putting back in with the others from its hatch and so far, so good even though they are huge compared to it. So keep your fingers crossed for that lil guy/girl (pretty sure it is a girl) to keep doing well.

i wasnt sure what day my broody was at...she was only sitting on three...i always checked everyday by gently putting my hand underneath, but she would push the eggs further at the back...then suddenly i heard chirping and there were two chciks...a day later another
the younger one sometimes goes underneath the straw so maybe chick maybe if you can have a good look

this is my first time at hatching as my broody started to sit

now i cant stop looking at them...they are so tiny

I'm so glad the little ICU gal is doing well back with her brood! That really is good news.

Congrats on the new baby/babies!!!

Did you lift mama's belly to see how many you have in there? She may peck you, but she'll be fine. Well......

Ok, ok, I went and peeked. Mama was not too happy about it. I started with 10 eggs, minus the one that I had found only half a shell of, so that left 9.

But only 3 babies and still 6 eggs there. Couldn't get a chance to see if any of those pipping. I would say doubtful by this point, so not sure what to do (any advise???).

All 3 babies are black.

There is a lil black head sticking out here:

This one shows a baby in the back left corner:

Ohhhhh - so precious! Congrats! Since they just started hatching, I would leave the others alone. They may just hatch out. And she will take the babies off the nest and abandon any that won't hatch soon. I would just let nature take it's course at this point. Let us know how many babies you end up with! Very exciting!

They're gunna come soon!

All the advise I can give to you is relax and be happy that you have three chicks. Who know what will happen next?!?!? Maybe all nine eggs will hatch?

I hope more hatch, but since the ones in there pretty much hatched Fri & Sat, not too sure more will, but who knows- stranger things have happened since I started the whole chicken-duck-goose experience.

The bator chicks that hatched a couple weeks ago was 81% hatch rate (my first time incubating). Right now mama only has less than a 33% hatch rate, but thats how it goes I guess. Never can tell what will happen. I wouldn't doubt the time of year and weather have something to do with it.

BUT, I am going to take Rio's advise and be happy with 3. If I get more, then it will be the cherry on top.

Will keep you posted.
