Broody on Nest

I tried to move a bantam hen sitting on eggs in the middle of my field. She was about one week along when i found her. I tried putting her and the eggs in a crate so she would be safe from predators. Sadly, she went into a frenzy in the crate (even though it was light, roomy, and had bedding and her eggs). I let her out, and put the eggs back, only to find she had got eaten overnight:( Moral of the story, maybe don't put your broody in a crate. She was also a flighty and tiny bantam. Sorry for the sad story, just trying to help.

Oh no!
Sorry for your loss :hugs

I usually have someone to hold the hen while I put the eggs into a bucket, I keep the bucket of eggs in front of her so she can see them whilst we move both the hen and the eggs to the new nest. Always has worked “knock on wood”
