Broody or just learning?

Ha Ha yes, we have 'L' plates here in the UK too. the 'L' is a big letter in red on a white background for those that don't know, some are like a sticker and some are on a plastic square that is usually ties on the bumper bar, or fender as you call them in the US.

I also think you have broody by what you describe.

Well, she stayed in the nesting box all night and she is all flattened out and making a chirping, whirring sound when I went near her this morning. She seems pretty broody.

I would love for her to hatch some babies but I'm worried that she is young and this would be her first time. And that we're heading into winter. Our min temperatures here get to maybe 2C (about low 30s F). I can move her to a small hutch within the run that is completely weather and wind proof.

If she is still in broody mode on the weekend I might get her 6-8 eggs (I don't have any fertile ones) and keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the back up. Ours are black on a yellow background.

Here in the UK, some of us make allowances for a learner and patiently follow behind till it is safe to overtake and remember when we were a learner etc.
Others are less patient and curse because they get stuck behind one and dangerously overtake almost causing an accident and on some cases sound the horn at them and they forgot when they were a learner.
