Broody or sick?

The bird in your video is not a Welsummer.

Being broody takes a toll on the hens body. If you don't want to hatch/give her chicks it's best to break her. The easiest way of doing this is by putting her in broody jail. Usually a dog crate is used as jail, but you can use other things. All that is aloud in jail is food, water, and a perch. No bedding. Leave her in the crate for 48-74 hours. If she is still broody, back in jail for another 24 hours.
thank you for the info! I've ordered a medium/ large dog crate off of amazon which should arrive tomorrow. i can fabricate a nice enough perch for her as i have a lot of scrap wood around. ill bring her into the house and provide a food and water bowl for her. though shes def 100% welsummer. confirmed by vet when she had her vaccinations few years ago. also from farm she came from only copper / brown hens they kept was welsummer and bovan brown

She might be a cross between the two? Color is off for a Welsummer. Neck should have a golden color to it.

Do you have an actual poultry specialist vet, or just an "exotics" vet? Not sure how a vet could confirm breed, I don't know if there's such things as breed markers they can test for.

quite possibly as her eggs should be speckled but are not. However heres a more close up pic of her from when she first went into their new area. the one way we could tell was when she was a baby chick. she was auto sexing

For comparison, here's my hatchery quality Welsummer, so you can see the gold on the neck.

Her eggs didn't always speckle though, it was like maybe 50/50.

She looks like a lovely lady. I too have Welsummer. Most of the time she has speckles on her eggs but, not always. I have a Welsummer Rooster and a mixed Australorp/Welsummer Rooster and Hen. You can blame hubby. He wanted to see if mama Australorp could hatch some eggs. She was our brooder for years. We also had a brooder with two Wyandotte.ladies years ago.

Definitely not a Welsummer. She looks like she might be a RIR or New Hampshire,.
Very interesting. I dont see RIR in the farms list, Although i can see a lot of strong similarities.. when bought the hatching eggs they had listed breeds below. Mayve you would have better knowledge of what she is based on these breeds?

Bovans Brown, Dekalb White, Lavender Aracuna, Black Copper Maran, Copper Neck Maran, Black Maran, French Maran, Dark Silver Sussex, Speckled Sussex, Welsummer, Bresse Gauloise, Brahma, Cream Legbar

These are the stated breeds of the eggs i could have gotten at that time of purchase. Although everyone on their fb page said welsummer as well as vets. but i have also thought differently to some degree on that too! egg style ect. also eggs medium size too not large like welsummer should have. I know my second hen is a cream legbar with her little crest and blue eggs. but yeah ive always had mixed answers based on the brown one. any input based on breeds listed? again though, thank you very much for your time and input! im still learning as these are my first ever hens. Love this community for advice!

Not entirely sure if im allowed to post links. but here is where i bought them hatching eggs,

Welsummer roos are absolutely gorgeous!!! If i lived further out in the country i would def keep some! unfort being right in the middle of a towns residential area we cant have any roos. Not by law or rules. We are allowed to keep them as long as no one complains. but we had a lot of neighboring complains about our dekab unfort

Very possible. I think I read in discription of eggs that their chickens are all kept together. There may be a generation or 2 of mixed breeding. Unsure how she would keep autosexing features though. Then again I'm not sure how that works. We had 6 eggs total at incubation. 5 hatched but only 3 survived in the end. They all had similar patterns but could tell the males where males by their much lighter coating. Except our dekalb because he was just a yellow fuffly cutie lol. I'll try get ahold of the seller again and see if they can share pics of their chickens to do comparisons on. She does look a lot like a rhode island red though as you said
