After months of attempting to artificially incubate duck eggs (and failing completely and utterly), I have a broody 'scovy hatching some welsh Harlequins as we speak.

So extatic! Pics soon... I think there were 4 or 5 out, with3 or 4 eggs left to go. Momma 'scovy was proud and BITING when I checked, so I'll leave her to it for a while.

4 out, one more pipped and peeping. Of the 4 that are out, I think I have a couple silvers.

3 of the ones out have dark bills/feet and the other has light bill/feet... hope that means I have 3 females and 1 male!

I really was hoping for some silver females.

SWEET! We had our broody muscovy hatching out our Ruen/Runner babies for us. She did such a fabulous job.

I love my caruncled 'scovy faces. That's her PO'ed face though. They're such good mommas and they're not above biting me when I'm getting to handsy with 'her' babies.

I ended up with 5 babies, 3 with dark bills and 2 with light bills. From Metzer's website, it says that the light billed ones are female, dark billed ones are male. I'm hoping for silver hens and gold drakes - I've never seen a gold drake before, just silvers.

The gold drakes are kinda boring. Still handsome, but their heads are brown instead of green and their wing bars are bronze instead of bright blue.
