She is the best momma and the rooster is such a great dad, I was concerned I would have to separate them, because I didn't know what he was going to do, but he loves them and cares for them too! It's amazing!!! I will post some more photos when it stops raining here...Hello, so far so good. The mama serama is taking great care of the chicks. But I am worried that she is not really feeding them the food I provide, she finds them worms and bugs and such. Is that good for them? I thought they need to eat tiny things, but they eat big, fat worms. They even stared to find their own worms, and when they do they run around like mad, even though nobody is chasing them...HA!! Great picture!!!![]()
Here is a few picks. It looks like they all will look like their parents.
Your babies are so cute, I love all the colors, I wish I had more colors too. Maybe I will buy some chicks or eggs from you next spring. On the other hand, I have a 1-week-old chick being raised with 3 others by 2 hens. Today it was definitely showing signs of being slow and lagging behind the others. It keeps getting run over by other youngsters in the pen. So I brought it inside for a few hours, gave a couple drops of vitamins, and put it under a heater. It seemed more active and chipper when the others were going in for the night, so I took it back outside. I’m not super hopeful for it, but I think I helped it some. We’ll see in the morning.
It’s super tiny, and silkied, in the pic, the red lid is a peanut butter jar lid and the rag is a regular wash cloth.

I had chick before with failure to thrive (bantam cochin) and that little guy did not grow at all in three weeks. Not an inch. no feathering. I had to give him chopped eggs, extra protein food and vitamin water. I thought I was going to loose him, but now he is as big as everybody else. Sometimes they just need a bit of help to catch up. I hope your baby will be fine. Also how do you get silkied serama?
