We have three hens. 2 silkies 1 Easter egger. All about 10 months old. Silkie is broody and about three weeks in on 4 eggs (she started with 5 we were sure one was a dud and removed that 1).
she seems serious. She exits the coop into the run 1x a day. First thing with the other girls, poops, eats, drinks and goes back.
my question...
we have a spot in the garage we can move her and give her about 3x5 foot space and a heat lamp. Do we move her now before the eggs hatch? Do we let her hatch and then move? Or will she do okay to keep them warm in southern CT with them in the coop. Cold is the first concern (for chicks not her).
2... the coop is about 3 feet off the ground... so the other concern is it’s to high to be safe for the chicks. if it was summer I’d get a small
Hut on the ground and let her be.
If we move her ahould we do it while she takes her morning break... or at night eggs and her together

I'd only move her after the hatch, if you move her before, this close to the end she could just get stressed out and abandon the eggs.
Do you think it’s necessary to move them at all? Im
Thinking the cold and coop height will be problematic for the chicks
