Broody with a few pictures. and I need advice

If you are not wanting her to be broody at this time, you can always break her of her broodiness. We have a wire cage (actually a bunny cage) with a wire floor that we have up off the ground. When we don't want our chickens to continue with broody behavior,we put them in the cage with food and water and they usually come out of it within a few days. I usually let her into the run for 5-10 minutes a couple of times a day to stretch her wings and get her feet off the wire, but as soon as she looks like she may be starting to fluff herself into a trance in the run I scoop her up and put her back into the cage. When she is ready, she'll march into the coop and go up to the roost as usual.

There are other techniques (cold water bath etc), but the cage has usually worked for me.
Good luck

My hen photographed has weaned her brood as well. She still forages with them but breaks off occassionally and has begun setting a second clutch. Of the 17 chicks hatched, she still has 14 as juveniles that can be sexed by feathering and now voice.

I gave her a cool bath today, she went into the coop again when the door was opened. Tomorrow the cage, she is broody a lot!
